As one of the more established communities in South Orange County, Dana Point has been more resistant than some other communities to the impact of the subprime market.  Foreclosures or pre-foreclosures accounted for 44 out of 310 (14%) sales for the past year.  However, that trend is accelerating as evidenced by last quarter sales of 100 homes, 20 (20%) of which were in the foreclosure process.  That percentage increased in the month of September 2008 to 26% (10 of 38 home sales).
