Marblehead Elementary School

Grades: Kindergarten through 5

Aloha! Welcome to Marblehead Elementary School. Marblehead opened its doors in fall 2001. The long-awaited campus houses approximately 540 students. Situated on the highlands in northern San Clemente adjacent to a neighborhood park, Capistrano Unified’s first two-story elementary school is of a unique design. Glimpses of the ocean can be viewed from several locations.

The staff of Marblehead is committed to being continual learners as well as teachers. Current research in instructional strategies and brain-based learning is studied and applied to lesson planning. Our founding staff of 21 teachers range in experience from 4-to-32 years of teaching. Without exception, every teacher participates in continuing education.

Capistrano Objectives for Reaching Excellence (CORE) and California standards serve as the educational foundation. Basic skills in reading, language arts and mathematics are integrated throughout social studies, art and science. Phonics skills and literature are both an important part of the reading curriculum.

Technology, an essential tool of learning, is available both in the classroom and in a lab setting. Internet research and digital photography are utilized on a regular basis. Every teacher is equipped with a laptop computer to enhance teaching and data access.

The PTA at Marblehead is extremely active. Volunteers are visible in every classroom. The PTA assists with field trips, and sponsors the Family Fun Night and the student talent show. It was also instrumental in the successful dedication of the school on November 16, 2001. Marblehead Elementary will continue to focus on establishing ties with the parents and community. Relationships with feeder schools, service organizations, law enforcement and community programs will become an ongoing legacy.

The Marblehead Aloha Spirit embraces all children. The staff believes that all students are gifted in different ways. As the culture of Marblehead unfolds, children, teachers, parents and the community are working together to academically prepare and enrich the lives of students.
